Order link in Google business profile: Restaurant checklist
An order link in the Google company profile shortens the path from local searches to your own restaurant shop. This checklist shows which information the restaurant controls, what GastroSprint provides for the online ordering website and which display still depends on Google.
How does your own order link get into the Google company profile?
In the Google company profile, a restaurant can store its own online ordering website as a link for food orders. To do this, open the area for food orders or pickup and delivery in the confirmed profile. There you enter the public shop address and can select it as your preferred link from several options.
The roles remain clearly separated. Google shows the restaurant in the search and in Maps, the GastroSprint shop takes the order. The restaurant retains its company profile and decides on the ordering options entered there. GastroSprint delivers the finished shop link, checks the destination and supports the setup. Google decides on the display and timing of the ad.
1. Set the correct shop address beforehand
Use the restaurant's public ordering page. A general homepage, the administration area, an internal preview or a PDF menu are not the right address. After clicking, guests must identify the correct restaurant, current menu and available order types.
Before registration, the restaurant clarifies with GastroSprint:
- which public shop address is used
- whether pickup, delivery or both ordering methods are offered
- Whether several branches each need their own destination address
- which opening and ordering times technically apply
- who manages the Google business profile in the restaurant
GastroSprint is responsible for the technical provision of the online ordering website. The restaurant confirms the restaurant name, branch, offer and operational rules. This check prevents the wrong branch or a preview that has not yet been released from being linked.
2. Add the link in the company profile
Google manages these links directly via the company profile in Search or in Google Maps. Depending on the device and region, the names may be slightly different, such as “food ordering,” “food ordering,” or “pickup and delivery.”
The process:
- Sign in with the Google account that has access to the restaurant profile.
- Open the verified company profile for the correct location.
- Select the area for food ordering, pickup or delivery.
- Enable accepting orders via profile if this option is turned off.
- Select “Add link” and enter the public GastroSprint shop address.
- Save the change.
The restaurant should not share its personal Google password with GastroSprint or other service providers. If support is required directly in the profile, your own Google user can be invited as a manager and removed later. Google provides separate owner and manager roles for this.
3. Correctly allocate pickup and delivery
Pickup, delivery or both: In your Google business profile, select only the order types that the business can provide and that are set up in the shop. A visible delivery option creates a concrete expectation for the guest.
The restaurant decides technically:
- whether pickup is offered
- whether your own delivery service is available
- at what times can be ordered
- which branch serves an area
GastroSprint displays the confirmed rules in the online ordering website. The Google link does not replace delivery zones, minimum order values or availability rules. It leads to the shop, which technically applies these specifications when ordering.
4. Set your own link as preferred
In addition to your own shop, there can be other ordering options in your profile. Google allows you to mark a provider or link as preferred. If the link supports both order types, this setting can be made separately for pickup and delivery.
After saving you should check:
- Is your shop registered for the correct location?
- Is it correctly assigned for pickup, delivery or both?
- Is the desired link marked as preferred?
- Does the public click actually lead to the right GastroSprint shop?
The restaurant uses this to control the assignment in the Google profile. GastroSprint remains responsible for the technical functional testing of the online ordering website, the payment methods and the order status.
5. Remove foreign or outdated order links
Google can also display links from selected third parties. Some of these are transmitted and updated by the respective provider. Therefore, a changed website address in the profile does not always remove it.
If a link is incorrect or no longer desired, it will be selected in the food ordering settings and requested to be removed. Google points out that the third party in question should process the removal within five working days. If this is not done, the link can be reported as a violation.
Before removal, the restaurant should check:
- which provider the link leads to
- whether there is still an active contract or integration
- whether the link is stored for pickup, delivery or both ways
- whether your own shop is already registered correctly and preferred
GastroSprint can compare the target addresses with each other. However, GastroSprint cannot alone remove a link that a third-party provider provides to Google. The restaurant must initiate the removal via its Google profile and, if necessary, with the respective provider.
6. Check the visible display
A saved change does not necessarily appear the same everywhere immediately. Depending on the profile, region, device and available functions, Google shows an “Order online” button, a separate link or selection options for pickup and delivery.
Then check the profile in Google public search and Google Maps, not just in the admin view. If there are several locations, each branch has its turn individually. Note the stored destination address so that later changes can be traced.
Neither the restaurant nor GastroSprint can guarantee a specific placement, button label or immediate display. Google remains responsible for the presentation of the company profile. GastroSprint ensures that the online ordering website provided is accessible and technically reflects the confirmed restaurant rules.
7. Keep changes permanently clean
The order link is one of the operational details that must be checked when changing providers, a new domain or a branch change. Even an old link that technically works can lead guests to the wrong offer.
Check the link again:
- Check for changes to domain or shop address
- Checking new or closed branches
- Check after changing delivery or ordering providers
- Alignment of pickup and delivery with actual restaurant operations
- Check for newly published third-party links
Use the same ordering address on the restaurant website, social media profiles, QR codes, and printed notices. The guide Increase direct orders in the restaurant shows how these contact points interact.
