Lieferando and Wolt for new customers, GastroSprint for follow-up orders
Your own online ordering website does not automatically take on customers. Use Lieferando and Wolt to attract new guests and GastroSprint for their follow-up orders. The practical plan shows how you can prepare the direct route, make it visible at permitted contact points and evaluate it with a comprehensible example calculation.
The ordering system alone does not solve your problem
Imagine your restaurant receives 1,000 orders per month via Lieferando. Now your own shop goes online. The menu and prices are well maintained, payment works. The new ordering method is ready for you.
Does your guest even know about it?
If he doesn't know the shop, he has no reason to change his usual routine. The next time he's hungry, he opens the familiar app again. Your own shop only becomes an alternative when you show them the way there.
Our recommendation: Use Lieferando and Wolt to attract new guests. Invite them to your GastroSprint shop for their next order. In this way, you can build up the direct channel alongside the platforms without sacrificing their reach overnight.
The 1,000 orders are a calculation example, not a practical customer number. This may include multiple orders from the same person. This is exactly what these follow-up orders are about.
Plan the path from the first to the next order
Someone who has never ordered from you before can discover your restaurant on Lieferando or Wolt. After the first meal he knows your cuisine. You no longer have to introduce him to your restaurant from scratch. Now he needs an easy way back.
So show him where he can find you directly: on your website, via the order link in your Google profile or via a menu with a QR code. We'll go through which contact points you use and what should be on them in a moment.
Wolt also recommends on his Restaurant marketing dealer page, combining marketplace reach with a direct ordering channel for regular customers. This is a provider recommendation, not a study about achievable switching rates.
Regular guests also order via platforms. The division therefore describes your goal, not a fixed characteristic of the channels: Lieferando and Wolt for acquiring new customers, GastroSprint for direct follow-up orders. You don't have to switch off an economically viable new customer channel. More about this can be found in Comparison between online ordering website and delivery platform.
Example calculation: What will 100 direct follow-up orders bring you?
Let's stick with the 1,000 monthly platform orders. Let's assume that in a later comparison month, 100 of them go directly through your shop and 900 go through the platforms. The total number remains the same. So we don't expect additional orders, but rather a different ordering method.
We use freely chosen net cost assumptions for the invoice. They are not a fee list from Lieferando, Wolt or Mollie. Only the GastroSprint entry price comes from the current plan. The 100 direct orders are also an assumption, not a promised change rate and not necessarily 100 different guests.
| calculation step | Amount |
|---|---|
| Avoided variable platform costs: 100 × assumed 4.20 euros | 420 euros |
| Payment processing in the direct shop: 100 × assumed 0.90 euros | −90 euros |
| Action costs: 100 × assumed 1 euro | −100 euros |
| GastroSprint Direkt at the starting price per month | −64 euros |
| Calculated monthly advantage under these assumptions | 166 euros |
The calculation is: 100 × (4.20 − 0.90 − 1.00) − 64 = 166 euros.
In this example, of the avoided 420 euros, 166 euros remain. Payment, promotion and the entire monthly shop price have already been deducted. There will be no change to the remaining 900 platform orders; their costs do not count as savings.
Take the values from your statements for your own calculation. In the example, sales revenue, cost of goods sold, delivery performance and other expenses remain the same. If your shop incurs additional costs for labor, setup, advertising or delivery, you deduct them. Discounts should be taken into account with their actual effect on the revenue.
If a platform courier has previously delivered, you have to organize and pay for this service yourself in the direct channel. Take them into account. The Overview of Lieferando costs helps you distinguish between brokerage and delivery.
Step 1: Order yourself from your shop
Before you distribute the first card, order yourself via your smartphone. Choose a dish with extras, check delivery area and delivery costs and proceed to payment and confirmation. Also test pickup. What is unclear to you will not be easier for your guests.
GastroSprint supports online payment via Mollie Connect with credit card and PayPal as well as automatic online payment processing in the ordering process. Check that the announced payment methods are set up and usable for your restaurant.
Decide with your team who will accept new orders, answer questions and set realistic times when the kitchen is full. The change should also work for the guest after paying.
GastroSprint does not have its own delivery fleet. If you have only used platform couriers so far, organize the delivery separately or start with a clearly marked collection offer.
Use a fixed order address that you control. The QR code leads directly to the shop, not to a homepage where the guest first has to search. Print the readable address and test the code at the actual print size in normal light.
Step 2: Make your order link visible where guests can find you
An announcement about the start of the shop is not enough to make the ordering process permanently visible. Place the link where guests will find your restaurant: website, Google profile, social media and menu.
On paper, QR codes and written web addresses work together. Online you set a clickable link. Anyone who reads your post on their smartphone should be able to open the shop directly on the same device.
| Contact point | Concrete implementation |
|---|---|
| Own restaurant website | Clearly visible “Order directly” button that leads to the shop without additional selection |
| Google business profile | Enter your own order link and set it as preferred if the option is offered |
| Instagram and Facebook | Order link in profile and on relevant posts; Do not use QR code as your only access |
| Menu and restaurant table | QR code with “For next time: order directly from us” and a written address |
| Own collection receipts and invoices | Short note outside the mandatory information; the team will provide the direct route if necessary |
| Flyers, delivery bags and packaging | Card with a single call to action; When ordering from a platform, first clarify the contractual admissibility |
Start with your website and your Google profile. Google describes the setup in the official company profile help. With ours Restaurant Order Link Checklist you can go through the individual points.
Before you place cards in Lieferando or Wolt orders, check your respective partner agreements regarding inserts, advertising and customer contact. Have unclear points confirmed before printing and distribution. A blanket permission for every platform order cannot be derived from this.
Step 3: Invite for the next order
Explain to your guest how they can order from you again. He doesn't have to know your commission calculation and you don't have to badmouth any platform.
For example, you can use this text for a card:
Did you enjoy it? Order directly from us next time. Scan the QR code for our menu, delivery and pickup.
Below this is the restaurant name, QR code and real shop address. If you only offer pickup, delete “delivery”. When handing over, the team can add: “You can find our own shop on the menu for your next order.”
On the website or in your social media profile, something like this fits:
Your favorite dish for home: Order directly from our restaurant shop. Here you can find our current menu and available ordering times.
Only print “cheaper and faster” on the card if you can hold both. Final price depends on dish, fees and offer; the delivery time of the kitchen, capacity utilization and drivers. If you have a verifiable price advantage, state the specific offer and conditions. Otherwise you will be invited to order directly.
Step 4: Choose a suitable occasion for the second order
A pickup offer, a suitable bonus or an app offer that has actually been set up can make the first attempt easier. Choose something that your guest understands and your team can reliably offer. Calculate beforehand how much it will cost. If you pass on the entire amount you save as a permanent discount, none of it stays in the restaurant.
To start, you will receive a free welcome package with 1,000 personalized voucher cards from GastroSprint. We agree on the voucher value, validity and redemption conditions together before printing. What is included in the package is stated below GastroSprint plans.
Decide who will issue the cards and which orders they can be part of. Discuss the conditions with your team so that they can answer questions. The 1,000 cards are a tool, not a promise of 1,000 redemptions or new customers.
For regular repeat orders, you can add your own restaurant app. Growth and Complete include points, rewards, app offers and consent push notifications. But you don't make the first attempt dependent on an installation: the online ordering website remains accessible in the browser.
The guide shows you how to turn this into suitable occasions for reordering Customer loyalty with restaurant app and push marketing.
Your work plan for the first 30 days
Spread the tasks out over a month. This way you can prepare the ordering process, place notes and evaluate initial feedback. The 30 days are a work plan, not a deadline for a specific turnover rate. Whether guests will order directly again in the long term will only become apparent through further ordering opportunities.
Week 1: Test the shop and determine responsibility
Check delivery, collection, payment methods and confirmation. Name the person who will handle new direct orders. If the delivery has not yet been organized, you initially only advertise collection. Write down the previous order numbers separately for Lieferando, Wolt and direct channel, if you have them.
Week 2: Prepare links and menus
Put the same order link on your website, Google business profile and social media profiles. Prepare the card with invitation, restaurant name, QR code and address. Clarify voucher conditions and partner contracts before planning distribution in platform orders.
Week 3: Start small and collect questions
Start at a permitted contact point, such as your own pick-up location. Record the number of items, time period and costs. Collect questions from guests about the shop, delivery conditions and payment methods with your team. Fix recurring issues before dealing more cards.
Week 4: Look at completed orders
Count completed direct orders and take cancellations, payment fees and promotional costs into account. If you cannot assign an order to a source, the source remains unknown. A QR call or a redeemed card alone does not prove that the order would otherwise have come via Lieferando.
Based on this feedback and orders, decide which contact point you will continue to use and where you will improve. QR views alone do not indicate a successful switch to your own shop.
What not to do with platform contacts
Customer migration here means that guests voluntarily choose a different ordering method. This does not mean importing customer accounts, telephone numbers or email addresses from Lieferando and Wolt.
Do not include such contact details in your advertising mailing list without asking. Wolt explains in his Privacy Policy, for which order data is passed on to restaurants. Data for processing an order is not a blanket advertising release.
Required for advertising via electronic mail § 7 UWG generally requires prior express consent. The existing customer exception has several requirements; a platform order does not automatically fulfill this. Have your specific use checked professionally in advance and make it easy to unsubscribe from advertising.
Conclusion: New customers via Lieferando and Wolt, follow-up orders via GastroSprint
Use Lieferando and Wolt to acquire new customers and GastroSprint for direct follow-up orders. The platforms help discover your restaurant. Your own shop should be the route that a guest will find directly next time.
Start with a complete test order, a visible shop link and an understandable invitation. Give your team a clear process for cards and new direct orders. The technology provides the ordering channel; In the restaurant you make it known and usable reliably.
Expand the direct share step by step and check what remains in the company after payment, promotional and delivery costs. In this way, you can work on increasing your margin on follow-up orders without prematurely giving up on an economically viable new customer channel.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get Lieferando customers into my own shop?
First, prepare a reliable mobile ordering route. Make it visible on your website, Google business profile, and permitted touchpoints with a clear invitation. A QR code leads directly to the menu. For the next order, the guest needs a recognizable path, not a new search for your restaurant.
Should I switch off Lieferando and Wolt afterwards?
Our recommendation is to use both as new customer channels and build GastroSprint for follow-up orders. An increasing direct share is no reason to automatically switch off an economically viable new customer channel. Check additional demand, costs and delivery organization per platform.
Can I put a QR flyer in every Lieferando or Wolt order?
This cannot be guaranteed across the board without your respective partner contract. Check the current agreements on inserts, advertising and customer contact. Clarify any unclear points with the contractual partner before distributing cards in platform orders.
Can I transfer customer data from Lieferando or Wolt to GastroSprint?
This plan describes a voluntary change in ordering method, no data import. Contact details from a platform order do not constitute automatic advertising consent. An import or comparison function for Lieferando or Wolt customer data is not promised here.
Do guests need to install an app to order directly?
No. The GastroSprint online ordering website works in the browser. Growth and Complete complement your own restaurant app with points, rewards, app offers and push notifications with consent. Promote the app as an additional avenue for repeat orders.
